The Bukk and the Bukkalja
Stretching from the Sajó Valley to the Tarna Valley, the Bükk is the main part of this small region although its foothills (called the Bükkalja) to the south and the Heves-Borsod Hills to the north also belong to it.
There are plenty of attractions in this small region. Explore cities abounding in architectural heritage, museums and cultural events (Eger, Miskolc), settlements important for their folk culture (Mezőkövesd, Tard, Bogács), bathing spots and thermal curative waters (Mezőkövesd, Miskolctapolca, Eger, Egerszalók, Bogács) and the superb wines offered by the wine cellars of the Bükk and Eger wine regions. However the Bükk itself is also a most attractive tourist destination in its own right. Visitors are drawn not only by the rich flora and fauna, caves and great hiking routes offered by the hills, but also by the fresh air of the mountain villages and towns.
