Ervin Szabo Library of the Capital (Fovarosi Szabo Ervin Konyvtar), Budapest
The Budapest Collection (Budapest Gyűjtemény), the Sociological and Musical Collections (Szociológiai- és a Zenei Gyűjtemény) are housed here. The Institute's 15 reading rooms hold over a million volumes for readers. The Library building is also architecturally distinctive.
There is a tourist information point and a café in the entrance hall. The Dragon Children's Library (Sárkányos Gyermekkönyvtár) awaits little ones with 14,000 volumes and journals, while interesting and creative events are arranged for them on Saturdays.
This approximately 13,000 square metre library complex evolved as a result of large-scale refurbishment and expansion between 1998 and 2001. The Library's original home, the Wenckheim Palace, was joined to another building, a 19th-century former residential palace, and a new eight-storey building was erected.Events and exhibitions are held regularly here. The Library has wheelchair access.
