Feldebro
The most significant sight is the Roman Catholic church unique not only in the country but on the entire continent. Originally a burial church, the first edifice was erected in the first half of the 11th century.
According to archaeological evidence from the village cemetery on the outskirts, settling Magyars were quick to discover this strategically favourable place. The ruins of Debrő Castle can still be seen next to the settlement.
The true treasure of Feldebrő is the crypt of the church, originally a burial church. The first written record dates from 1219.
How to get there:
Feldebrő is served on the Kál-Kápolna-Kisterenye railway line. There are local Volán buses from the Kál-Kápolna and from Eger to Feldebrő. By car, take Route 3 from Gyöngyös, turn left at Kápolna, then Feldebrő is the next village after Aldebrő.
