Jakab Fellner

Jakab Fellner settled in Tata aged 23 and spent most of his life here. He worked primarily for the counts of Esterházy. Subsequently due to his excellent professional reputation he was also engaged by many others. His first significant work was the parish church of Tata (1751). Later he undertook the redesign of the Esterházy palace at Cseklész (1756) and in the same year he planned the Lamberg family mansion at Mór.Bishop Charles Eszterházy commissioned him in 1764 to plan several buildings of the Eger bishopric. His first work there was the stairway and the chapel of the episcopal palace (1766). He also planned the Veszprém episcopal palace (1768-74). In 1765 he continued supervision of the construction of a lyceum at Eger planned by Viennese architect Joseph Gerl. His last large work was the Pápa parish church (1773). Jakob Fellner received nobility in 1773.
