Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County
Among its natural assets, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County is particularly known for its medicinal thermal waters. Also belonging to this county are the southeastern section of the Lake Tisza, a popular holiday spot and the western area of the Hortobágy National Park, parts of which are World Heritage Sites.
The county lies at the heart of the Great Plain (Alföld), around the rivers Tisza, Triple Körös (Hármas-Körös) and Zagyva. Its landscape is the archetypal plain.
It embraces an area of 5582 square kilometres and has over 411,000
inhabitants, the majority of whom live in the county's sixteen towns.
The country seat is Szolnok, and the other towns are: Abádszalók, Jászapáti, Jászárokszállás, Jászberény, Jászfényszaru, Karcag, Kenderes, Kisújszállás, Kunhegyes, Kunszentmárton, Martfű, Mezőtúr, Tiszaföldvár, Tiszafüred, Törökszentmiklós, Túrkeve, and Újszász.
