Kesztolc
Populated primarily by Hungarians and Slovaks, the main sight of this Pilis settlement are the remains of a 13th-century Pauline monastery. The ruins and its surroundings are a popular place to walk.
The history of the settlement can be traced back to the Copper Age while significant Neolithic, Roman and medieval artefacts have been discovered around its borders.
Belonging to Kesztölc, Klastrompuszta is situated on the side of Pilis Hill. In around 1250 Beatific Özséb erected the ancient monastery of the Paulines (pálosok), the only monastic order to be founded in Hungary. The remains of walls of the monastery and the church were excavated between 1959 and 1961. Klastrompuszta is today a recreational area and one of the starting points for hiking tours in Pilis.
The spacious Girl's Cave (Leány-barlang) and the Lad's Cave (Legény-barlang) are situated on the edge of the village. Once home to prehistoric man, it is today a popular walking area.
How to get there:
By car take Route 10, turning to the right between Leányvár and Dorog.
