Beaches along the Lake

Bathers will find numerous beaches with unlimited access between the developed beaches. Some lakeside resorts offer water slides as well as rental of pedal boats, windsurfing boards and other sporting equipment. At Siófok and Balatonfüred there are even water ski runs with wire ropes.

Visitors may choose from the many camping sites, pensions, hotels and other accommodation all along the shore. Festivals and other events provide evening entertainment and there are also clubs and bars that are open until dawn. But do not miss out on the experience of fantastic lakeside sunsets, a night swim or a stroll along the mole looking for shooting stars.

For those who don't have their own water transport, there is a ferry at the narrow straits of Tihany Penninsula and boats run to 22 destination from the local pier. Alongside these scheduled services there is a fair number of pleasure boat and event boat operators.

Marinas are now available to sailors at all major lakeside destinations thanks to on-going development. For proof that a favourable breeze is guaranteed simply take a glance at the turquoise lake surface dotted with white sails. Last but not least, several prestigious sailing competitions are held on Lake Balaton.
