Museums
The museum's exhibits consist mainly of folk art and historical materials. The most significant items in the folk art section are displays on shepherding traditions, painted furniture of the Cumanian region (Kunság) and ceramics from Karcag.

Monuments
It is 21 years older than the nine-vaulted bridge in Hortobágy; its foundation stone was laid in 1806. The original bridge was about 80 metres long and had nine vaults, only five of which remain today.

The Classical-style Kunhegyes church is the biggest two-steeple Reformed church on the Great Plain (Alföld) and is also referred to as the 'Cathedral of the Great Plain'.

Built in 1746, the most attractive feature of the church is the wooden coffered ceiling decorated with painted flowers. Originally separate from the church but now connected to it, at 47.1 metres its steeple is the highest in South Borsod.

Ranked among the most significant heritage in the county is the vernacular Barna-type windmill built in 1858.

The original Gothic-style church was built around 1480. About two thirds of the 16-metre high church tower remains.

In the nature
More than 700 tree species live in the 7-hectare land of the arboretum designated as protected in 1950. The hardy rubber tree (Eucommia ulmoides) is rare in Hungary.

The most important natural asset of the village is the puszta which is part of the Hortobágy National Park (Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park).

The 2500-hectare bird reserve in the Tiszavalk Bay (Tiszavalki-öböl) belongs to the Hortobágy National Park. A strictly protected nature reserve, it is among the internationally acknowledged waterfowl habitats.

The area may be considered a biosphere reservation where today's rich fauna and flora is reminiscent of the habitats which existed on most of the Great Plain (Alföld) prior to regulation of the River Tisza.

Reedy areas, marshlands and oxbow lakes, as well as groves, and willow bushes are home to countless protected animal and plant species, first of all to waterfowl. There is a model farm next to the visitors centre.
