Main Square (Fo ter)

During the 18th century, wealthy local tradesmen built Baroque and Rococo-style houses worthy of their rank. The old-fashioned ambience of this square continues to fascinate locals and visitors alike.

The ensemble of buildings of Szentendre's Main Square is really worth looking at, as are many details of the houses that form this square. Mostly two-storeyed buildings, these are masterpieces of traditional building and ornamental handcraft (i.e. Main Square, numbers 11, 12, 15, 17). The Rococo stucco ornamentation of the facade of house number 19 is particularly worth mentioning.
