Ocsa
The most important attractions in the village are the Ócsa Landscape Protection Area that belongs to the Duna-Ipoly National Park and the largest Romanesque heritage of the Great Plains (Alföld), the former Premonstratensian provost church.
The name of the settlement, Ócsa, stems from an ancient Turkish name that resembles a verb 'to love'. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1243.
In medieval times this area was a royal estate including a significant monastery. Inhabitants converted to the Reformed faith in the 16th century. By the 19th century Ócsa had become one of the largest settlements in the region.
As for the natural heritage, visit the unique alder marshlands close to Ócsa with precious and rare species of wild orchids that blossom here.
How to get there from Budapest:
By car take Route 50 or the M5 motorway. By railways, take the Budapest-Kecskemét line.
