Pottery (Fazekas-haz), Nadudvar
Known worldwide, Nádudvar black pottery is exhibited in the house of master folk artist Lajos Fazekas Senior. Masterpieces of vernacular applied art can be seen in this museum workshop.
The speciality of black pottery lies in the unique technique of firing. Made of clay dug from around the town, the motifs are 'scrubbed' on the pots with a pebble before firing.
The Fazekas brothers set up their workshops and show rooms in
the Main Street (Fő utca). Their addresses are:
159 Fő Street, Lajos Fazekas
pottery;
64, Fő Street, István Fazekas show room;
152 Fő Street, Ferenc
Fazekas show room;
67 Lukács Dénes Street, József K. Nagy and family's
workshop and
16 Völgyalj Street, Júlia Vass Dobi's workshop.
