Monuments
This towered, Gothic castle built between 1403 and 1445 has the
best-preserved Gothic keep and chapel in Hungary. The building complex includes
the Castle Baths.
The cathedral is one of the most distinctive buildings in the cityscape. The most monumental
work of 20th-century Hungarian Ecclesiastic architecture, it is the fourth
largest church in the country.
The late Rococo-style building of the army stud headquarters was
built in 1790. In the 1880's a wooden veranda was added to the centre of the
house on the first floor.
This is the largest continuous cellar district in Europe.Approximately 2 kilometres from the settlement is the best-known and
most visited site in and around Hajós.
Probably designed by Andreas Mayerhoffer, this Baroque cathedral
dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady was built between 1735 and 1754 on
medieval foundations.
The keep of the castle that once stood here was built into the
current Baroque-style palace. The palace chapel and banquet hall are decorated
with frescoes by Maulbertsch.
