Szendehely
The settlement maintains its ethnic German traditions and there is a local museum (honismereti ház) that exhibits the history of the village. An early 19th-century stone bridge and a church from the same period can also be seen.
Szendehely is one of the youngest villages in Nógrád County. German-speaking Roman Catholic families were settled here from Berkenye in 1753 and their descendents maintain many of their old traditions to this day.
Katalinpuszta is a distinct settlement belonging to Szendehely; located as it is on route 2 it can be called the western gate to Nógrád County.
How to get there:
By car take Route 2 which passes through the village. By public transport, take a local Volán bus on the Rétság-Balassagyarmat-Széchény-Salgótarján line.
