The 150th anniversary of the Kugler - Gerbeaud tradition (exhibition case)
Henrik Kugler founded the famous Gerbeaud confectionary 150
years ago, in 1858.
October 14th of that year, was the day when the citizens of Budapest could read in the daily press about the fancy café that opened on the József Square. In 1870, Kugler moved his business to the Színház Square (today it is known as the Vörösmarty Square), where it soon became the most classy confectionary of Budapest and a popular meeting place for the Hungarian aristocracy. In 1884, Emil Gerbeaud joined to the business and with his extraordinary talent and enterprising spirit he made the place even more beloved for the Hungarians and even for our foreign guests. For the 150th anniversary the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism would like to make a memory for the fame and popularity of this place as they exhibit fancy wrapping papers, sweetie boxes and other delightful souvenirs from the time of Kugler and Gerbeaud.
