The Heves Plains
Most of the region belongs to the Heves Grasslands Landscape Protection Area. The area most visited by tourists is the countryside bordering the River and Lake Tisza in the south. The largest settlements are Füzesabony, Heves, Poroszló and Kisköre.
The saline and salinising habitats to the east of the Kisköre Reservoir belong to the Heves Grasslands Landscape Protection Area. Plant communities typical of the areas are drought-tolerant salt grasses and Artemisia salt grasses along with smaller sections of loess puszta grassland.
In addition to village churches, mansions and local history collections held in traditionally built houses, the main attraction of the area is the Tisza Dam II, the largest hydroelectric power station in Hungary.
