The building of the Szechenyi Thermal Baths (Szechenyi Gyogyfurdo), Budapest
This is Europe's largest thermal baths. The impressive, Eclectic-style building, featuring mainly Baroque and Renaissance elements, was built in the early 20th century.
Built between 1909 and 1913, the baths became so popular, that by 1927 they already had to be expanded. The style of the new wing followed the style of the Renaissance-dominated original building, and some of the most renowned contemporaneous artists were involved in the interior design. Thus work by Géza Maróti, Ede Telcs, József Róna, Miksa Róth, György Vastagh, Zsigmond Vajda, Fülöp Ö. Beck, Pál Pátzay, Ferenc Medgyessy, and Ede Margó can be seen in the building. The bean-shaped ground-plan of the drinking hall in front of the main entrance is a new building which employs some architectural elements of the 1930's pavilion.
