The surroundings of Tiszacsege and Polgar
Significant settlements of the region stretching down along the River Tisza are Polgár, Tiszacsege and Egyek.
In addition to the natural assets of the landscape of the Great Plains and Tisza Banks, this region also offers plenty to see. The thermal baths draw the greatest number of visitors in Polgár, but its late Classical Roman Catholic church is also worth a visit. The Serf's House (Zsellérház) presenting the way of life in the 1800's and the Baroque Reformed church are outstanding among attractions in Tiszacsege. From here you can reach Kácsa Island, a protected nesting ground for birds which breed here including the black kite and the black stork.
Although it is well worth visiting the houses with their sunray motifs, the school and the church in Egyek, it is primarily for bathing and angling that tourists make their way here.
