The Tisza Backwater of Alsórét directly borders the central part of the settlement; its conservation is underway. Unique ecological rarities here include the water lily and the water chestnut, as well as its protected bird life.
Along the river there are willow, poplar and alder gallery forests
and salt marshes. The 126-hectare Tisza Backwater (Holt-Tisza) provides a
resting place for several protected migrating bird species. It is also an
important angling area.
