Tivadar
The village hidden away on the right side of River Tisza next to a bridge across to Kisar has been an important river crossing point between the counties of Bereg and Szatmár. The river here is most attractive for swimming and water sports.
It is thought that the settlement owes its name to the Christian name of Teodor, a landowner of the Gulácsy clan who lived in the late 13th century. A 1333 charter spelling the village name 'Dyodor' and 'Thihedor' mentions a church parish.
The village's main sight is its 18th-century Baroque church. The tower was erected in the 1930's replacing an old wooden structure. With the help of surviving photographs a 1994 reconstruction of the wooden belfry was made and today can be seen in the Sóstó open-air museum village in the north of Nyíregyháza.
How to get there:
By public transport, local Volán buses serve the village from Fehérgyarmat and Vásárosnamény. By car, look for the village to the north, east of the above-mentioned towns respectively.
