Water, Music and Flower Festival (Víz, Zene, Virág Fesztivál), Tata
The Water, Music and Flower Festival held in Tata is an outstanding event of Central Transdanubia. Held for three days at the end of June it encompasses wind, chamber and pop music, dance performances, a water carnival, a motorboat race and angling competitions as well as a flower exhibition.
With the aim of making concerts and culture more popular, classical concerts are held in the Kodály Square Music Pavilion and the churches of Tata as a preliminary to the festival. Among the 'water' programmes there is a regatta, a sailboat race, jet ski, motor boat and hydroplane demonstrations, and even a water carnival held on Old Lake. The 'floral' events include a competition organised by the Hungarian Flower Arranging Association along with an exhibition of floral arrangements and floral compositions decorating the castle, the castle gates and the palace facade. A flower market is staged in the courtyard of the castle while inside a flower arranging exhibition awaits visitors. Musical offerings include performances by light, classical, folk music groups from Hungary and abroad.Quality handcraft products and demonstrations by experts at the festival and the fair include, among others, a wood sculptor, blacksmith, farrier, traditional pottery with potter wheels, feltmaker, corn weaver, jeweller, gingerbread painter, furrier, glass painter.
Other side attractions are applied art exhibits and gastronomic events.
